My Neighborhood (6)

Welcome to the absolutely-positively-unequivocally-the-very-last-post of this blog...whoops...I inserted the wrong word there. Sorry 'bout that. Not quite there yet as this blog is only at 49.26% capacity (yes, there is a capacity limit for photos. Don't believe me? Then ask the fabulous Bea over at the Dog In The Hole Studio about the picture capacity for Blogger, which btw is 1024 MB).

Take 2.

Welcome to the absolutely-positively-unequivocally-the-very-last-post of this series.

Much better

Anyways, starting with next week's series (tentatively titled "Relaxing in New England), we'll be going back to the tried and true 5-6-5-6-5 picture format as I'm now comfortable with not only what I got on tap for picture CD's but what I gots for cameras as well. Without further blogressions, lets commence with the captioning.

During one of my many walks to the center I used to visit the local Dunkin' Donuts. The reason as to why I say "used to" is not because of the coffee or food tasting lousy but because I still believe that I was short changed a few weeks ago. So until I can come to my senses and forget about the ugly incident, I shall not be stopping there. Anyways, last fall, they had this nifty little whatchamacallit (no, not the candy bar) on display near the counter. I thought it was funky enough for me to take a picture, so I did.

The reason as to why I took a picture a picture of a outdoor thermometer is pretty basic, especially if you take into consideration these basic facts: It is autumn; it is September/October; it is Connecticut; for the past few years, it has been mighty warm during those months. Therefore, if you click on the pic, you will see that the temps shows a little north of 60 degrees.
Father Nature needed to get a little practice in, so while Mother Nature was busy becoming one with herself (don't go there), he decided to have a little fun by doing his best impersonation of Bob Ross. And yes, that is my car in the foreground, the one that went through three pairs of license plates in one calendar month this year. Note, for any of you who live in CT and happened to be visiting here today, your local town will charge you $117 for not having a front plate on your car. Anyways, looking at this picture reminds me of a seriously old song lyric (don't go there): red and yellow and pink and green. purple and orange and blue. i can sing a rainbow, sing a rainbow, sing a rainbow too.

I wanna say that I took this one at my house, but you know what, I haven't the foggiest idea where I shot this one. Heck, I haven't even a clue on what those are underneath the tree there.

Not a clue boys and girls, although if I was to venture a guess, I would say......Litchfield? In any event, its a mountain scene with all kinds of nifty colors to please the eye, bath the spirit and quench the soul.

  3. Ha ha that first photo cracked me up.

So damn, is this true about photos on blogger? I must be near my max on Joey's pad. Can you still use a hosting house to show photos instead?

  4. Joe: Glad I was able to give you a morning chuckle.

Yes it is true about Blogger. They do track all the photos that you have posted either on your blogs, or in my case, my blogs and the Picassa website.

However, you do have the option of buying more storage space for your pictures.

The easiest way to find out how much you got stored is to click on that link called "My Account", then click on the link "Picassa Web Albums". Near the bottom of that page it will tell you exactly how much storage space you're using.

With me, it's taken about 3 years to get to that current capacity level that I'd mentioned.

  5. That doughnut thing would scare the hell out of me if I ran into it in the middle of the night.

So now I am stumped, those lyrics are from what song?

  6. M: I think that the lyrics are from an old children's song (back when I was my daughter's age) that I knew as "Sing A Rainbow".

Not sure if that is the actual title of the song, but those lyrics have stayed with me for the past three and a half decades.

It just reminds me of the time when life was simpler.

  7. I like the stories that pictures tell, and have enjoyed the visual tour of your neighborhood. There's something very hometown, and comforting about them.

  8. Joanne: Thank.

I enjoy taking pics of my neighborhood and of the surrounding area because my neighborhood really does give me that necessary balance needed to face some of the unpleasantness that the day can bring.

  9. Wow, Blogger tracks your photos? Talk about Big Brother.

No more Dunkin Donuts 'round here, boo hoo. I used to LOVE their whole wheat sugar coated ones, so freaking gooooood.

    xo

  10. Jannie: Not so much tracking as simply keeping tabs on what you have stored in their server. If you need more storage pace, you can purchase more storage space.

Really? Just in your neck of the woods or in general?
