<br />

<br />

Believe it or not, the name change was done on a whim, with the whim being the weekly post over at <a href="http://gbmjrflashy.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Father Nature's Corner</a>. I originally decided to post these pics over there, so I wrote a snarky comment about it. I liked it so much that I decided right there and then to change the title of my picture blog.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Thus, we start at the beginning, specifically, the 1st bike outing of the season, which took place on 5/14:</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-g9wsWwpB608/VzvDq01kKMI/AAAAAAAADLk/5oR990b9GGkD10eDhLXnWz-gQ61WyMpUACLcB/s1600/Bike_1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-g9wsWwpB608/VzvDq01kKMI/AAAAAAAADLk/5oR990b9GGkD10eDhLXnWz-gQ61WyMpUACLcB/s320/Bike_1.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Actually, this pic wasn't part of the bike ride. I was out running some errands in my car and I thought it would be a good idea to take the camera along. Sadly, this was the only pic I during the drive.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-duFdAb3GOA0/VzvDs9CHtRI/AAAAAAAADLo/vJ2hxAbZa_YR5geiK9lHllO8JPbZ6q3owCLcB/s1600/Bike_2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-duFdAb3GOA0/VzvDs9CHtRI/AAAAAAAADLo/vJ2hxAbZa_YR5geiK9lHllO8JPbZ6q3owCLcB/s320/Bike_2.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Mill Pond Park: The Canadian Geese Armada was out in full force that Saturday, styling and profiling for the masses, as well as dropping some serious fertilizer for the masses as well. Oh, the human masses were out in full force that day, mostly doing the fishing thing. So we actually dismounted a couple of times to walk our bike past the peoples.<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
The geese pics are pretty much self explanatory. I played around with the zoom lens feature and considering I was anywhere from fifty to three hundred feet away from them, I think they came out purty good.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wRjbAA4kPZI/VzvEEaTlqJI/AAAAAAAADME/eRnwmFG98Cgg4xYrnM7fuQcCnR-HqPYvQCLcB/s1600/Bike_10.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wRjbAA4kPZI/VzvEEaTlqJI/AAAAAAAADME/eRnwmFG98Cgg4xYrnM7fuQcCnR-HqPYvQCLcB/s320/Bike_10.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
For those of you who may have been following me for a short time, it's an annual tradition of mine to have at least one (sometimes two) bike accidents every year, and 2016 was no exception. Roughly a half hour prior to taking this pics, I was on my way to the post office, when I came to a premature stop at the crossing light. Seems that my left shoelace, which I forgot to quadruple knot for bike riding, wrapped itself around my bike pedal.<br />
<br />
Skipping to the end, we scrapped our knee and had a strange encounter with a high skool student. Our local high skool tennis team was doing a carwash fundraiser that day, and as this student was walking from one end of the block to the other, he passed by the wreckage of me and the bike and asked quite sincerely, "Hey mister! Wanna get your bike washed?"<br />
<br />
Nice to know that chutzpah exists with the younger generation.<br />

Two posts in the month of July on this here blog. I's must be getting ill.<br />
<br />
Today's post will feature another batch of photos taken this past July 4th weekend, and as the title suggests, it will feature doggies, specifically the one living here at the house.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-c69A8k-kwZo/VbBDp3eqnjI/AAAAAAAADBQ/HYg1boAtqCE/s1600/July%2B4th%2BWeekend_2%2B031.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-c69A8k-kwZo/VbBDp3eqnjI/AAAAAAAADBQ/HYg1boAtqCE/s320/July%2B4th%2BWeekend_2%2B031.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The first two are of my mother's/daughter's nutty little chiuahauhau Oreo. Oreo has done an incredibly remarkable job of purging the entire backyard of all possible living creatures.<br />
<br />
Birds? gone. Squirrels? ditto. Ducks? beyond a shadow of doubt. Rabbit? Getting there.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-A1L1EYlpRzY/VbBDoyKU9PI/AAAAAAAADBI/amaH4gky4Y8/s1600/July%2B4th%2BWeekend_2%2B032.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-A1L1EYlpRzY/VbBDoyKU9PI/AAAAAAAADBI/amaH4gky4Y8/s320/July%2B4th%2BWeekend_2%2B032.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-phAP0bBPs8U/VbBD0kvWFGI/AAAAAAAADBc/MIUO5v9olyI/s1600/July%2B4th%2BWeekend_2%2B037.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-phAP0bBPs8U/VbBD0kvWFGI/AAAAAAAADBc/MIUO5v9olyI/s1600/July%2B4th%2BWeekend_2%2B037.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-phAP0bBPs8U/VbBD0kvWFGI/AAAAAAAADBc/MIUO5v9olyI/s320/July%2B4th%2BWeekend_2%2B037.JPG" width="320" /></a><br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-phAP0bBPs8U/VbBD0kvWFGI/AAAAAAAADBc/MIUO5v9olyI/s1600/July%2B4th%2BWeekend_2%2B037.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"> </a><br />
<br />
The next two are of my mother's dog Lucky. Lucky is alder than dirt (about 18 or so), can't see and suffers from seriously short term memory loss.<br />
<br />
As in, I can walk out the door and return fifteen seconds later to be barked at like it was my first time entering the house. In perpetuity.<br />
<br />
As you can see, he is just chillin' in the sun.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-SsZXzSbExlg/VbBD0UnFKGI/AAAAAAAADBY/8xkPYXb5Cxk/s1600/July%2B4th%2BWeekend_2%2B038.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-SsZXzSbExlg/VbBD0UnFKGI/AAAAAAAADBY/8xkPYXb5Cxk/s320/July%2B4th%2BWeekend_2%2B038.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PkDhS2JXcSs/VbBD9IgymNI/AAAAAAAADBo/qGWu_3dd4c8/s1600/July%2B4th%2BWeekend_2%2B040.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PkDhS2JXcSs/VbBD9IgymNI/AAAAAAAADBo/qGWu_3dd4c8/s320/July%2B4th%2BWeekend_2%2B040.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kIEORWsF1vg/VbBD9L-zzPI/AAAAAAAADBs/vAuQNugbkDc/s1600/July%2B4th%2BWeekend_2%2B041.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kIEORWsF1vg/VbBD9L-zzPI/AAAAAAAADBs/vAuQNugbkDc/s320/July%2B4th%2BWeekend_2%2B041.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I was able to get a bunch of actions shots of Oreo from where I was (zoom lens on the camera) in the yard. In these two, you can see he was starting to go to town with scratching his back on the lawn.<br />
<br />
And for those of you who are truly desperate to have music today, I double dog dare you to click on <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gzd8utz2tts" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">this link</a>.<br />

I thought for next few months, it would be a good idea to dust out the bunnies and the cobwebs and bring this niche blog back out amongst the living.<br />
<br />
Today's fun filled post is about butterflies, specifically, Monarch Butterflies. From I understand, there has been a decline of the Monarch butterfly population in the past few years, and <a href="http://monarchwatch.org/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Monarch Watch</a> is a good place to learn how you can help stop the decline.<br />
<br />
My town is doing it's part to help with the decline, as I discovered over the July 4th holiday weekened when I went bike riding. I took well over three dozen photos that day, and for today's post, I would like to present a little montage of that Monarch butterfly waystation.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here is the original sign describing it.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-13eAWO-ejqU/VZ3GU80B2oI/AAAAAAAAC-c/rDgIUjywjEM/s1600/July%2B4th%2BWeekend_2%2B020.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-13eAWO-ejqU/VZ3GU80B2oI/AAAAAAAAC-c/rDgIUjywjEM/s400/July%2B4th%2BWeekend_2%2B020.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
And I decided to get a close up so that you could read what is written on the sign.</div>

The rest of the shots are of the various flower beds that they planted and developed. I will tell you that they did a very good job of reclaiming this land next to the public library and creating a little bit of an open space out of what used to be a couple of houses.</div>

I did not see any butterflies that day, but I did see a few moths. All of these pics were taken on either end of the flowerbeds, as I didn't feel comfortable tying to walk between them. In all of them you can see that they planted all kinds of flowers and other assorted fauna, and in the bottom, you can see a partial pallet of soil and fertilizer for them.<br />

<br />
I thought I would dust off this blog and give everyone a treat today. Why? Because about a month ago, I received a b'day present of a slightly used digital video camera. A camera that is 1000 times better than the cheapy Colby camera that I had used for the past few years.<br />
<br />
Anyways, today's pictorial will feature pics taken on a picnic I took with the wife on June 20th at Mill Pond Park. Enjoy!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: right;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0x50TmgmSw8/U6suHGq8AeI/AAAAAAAACvc/PNA2N2Npllw/s1600/Vacation+2014+001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0x50TmgmSw8/U6suHGq8AeI/AAAAAAAACvc/PNA2N2Npllw/s1600/Vacation+2014+001.JPG" height="180" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: right;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: right;">
1) This is similar to one that I took a couple of years ago, in which I was laying on my back and looking up. Strangely enough, my wife did ask what I was doing, and strangely enough, I answered.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8v0dYbbGkHI/U6suMnY_AAI/AAAAAAAACvk/Kgw9gOLoyK0/s1600/Vacation+2014+002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8v0dYbbGkHI/U6suMnY_AAI/AAAAAAAACvk/Kgw9gOLoyK0/s1600/Vacation+2014+002.JPG" height="180" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
2} A very distant shot of ducks, even though I used the zoom feature on the camera. As you can see by the algae, it's been wickedly hot and dry this year so far.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: right;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-EPVFyvourIw/U6suSrmKNWI/AAAAAAAACvs/tSC8ePo35bw/s1600/Vacation+2014+003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-EPVFyvourIw/U6suSrmKNWI/AAAAAAAACvs/tSC8ePo35bw/s1600/Vacation+2014+003.JPG" height="180" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: right;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: right;">
3} With this shot, I was able to get much closer to the pond (a bench for people to watch and..<em>ahem</em>...feed the geese from was nearby) and thus make better use of the zoom feature.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Nn9dwM0mhQY/U6sub8qm67I/AAAAAAAACv0/IWVPA9ulv5k/s1600/Vacation+2014+004.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Nn9dwM0mhQY/U6sub8qm67I/AAAAAAAACv0/IWVPA9ulv5k/s1600/Vacation+2014+004.JPG" height="180" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
4} Another shot of the geese from the same area.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: right;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ml_Mt4N4BKc/U6sucYx-NdI/AAAAAAAACv8/En5duzeaK2I/s1600/Vacation+2014+005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ml_Mt4N4BKc/U6sucYx-NdI/AAAAAAAACv8/En5duzeaK2I/s1600/Vacation+2014+005.JPG" height="180" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: right;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: right;">
5} This was taken from the bridge that crosses the waterfall, which was bone dry this particular day. My wife thinks that one of the ducks in this pic used to visit our little pond back in the day before the dogs chased them out.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aqecHy7d0rk/U6sucQBTPvI/AAAAAAAACv4/R--u8BMuoYo/s1600/Vacation+2014+006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aqecHy7d0rk/U6sucQBTPvI/AAAAAAAACv4/R--u8BMuoYo/s1600/Vacation+2014+006.JPG" height="180" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
6} Another duck sunbathing on the rocks. The sad part is that you can usually see these rocks when there has been a distinct lack of rain in the area for an extended period of time.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: right;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KpySCEFpCws/U6sufNv9qBI/AAAAAAAACwM/5SCVsGH0woQ/s1600/Vacation+2014+007.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KpySCEFpCws/U6sufNv9qBI/AAAAAAAACwM/5SCVsGH0woQ/s1600/Vacation+2014+007.JPG" height="180" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: right;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: right;">
7} Still more ducks. Ducks at the pond are just about the easiest animals to take pictures of.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4JlyH6-uoDQ/U6sugYM47JI/AAAAAAAACwU/7VCNoGwaqDQ/s1600/Vacation+2014+008.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4JlyH6-uoDQ/U6sugYM47JI/AAAAAAAACwU/7VCNoGwaqDQ/s1600/Vacation+2014+008.JPG" height="180" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
8} Yup, you guessed it, more ducks. We have a large population of two types of feathered friends: ducks and Canadian geese.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: right;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uywhgsHHY6Q/U6sug9Rb6iI/AAAAAAAACwY/kwbFFeMT1gk/s1600/Vacation+2014+009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uywhgsHHY6Q/U6sug9Rb6iI/AAAAAAAACwY/kwbFFeMT1gk/s1600/Vacation+2014+009.JPG" height="180" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: right;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: right;">
9} And still yet more ducks taking their hourly bath at the edge of the waterfall.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-MB4d7uOp9xQ/U6suiqo_VlI/AAAAAAAACwk/ytBAhXKOrVY/s1600/Vacation+2014+010.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-MB4d7uOp9xQ/U6suiqo_VlI/AAAAAAAACwk/ytBAhXKOrVY/s1600/Vacation+2014+010.JPG" height="180" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
10} This was taken with a zoom as I wanted to get a shot of the duck swimming inside the water fountain.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qAT_BZ4--TE/U6sujdWAKYI/AAAAAAAACws/fVCXbaE6iz0/s1600/Vacation+2014+011.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qAT_BZ4--TE/U6sujdWAKYI/AAAAAAAACws/fVCXbaE6iz0/s1600/Vacation+2014+011.JPG" height="180" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div align="center">
</div>
<div align="center">
11} The water fountain, which was donated by the Newington Garden Club back in the late 70's. There are two of them, one at the northern and the other at the southern end of the pond. They only come out for play when there's been a distinct lack of rain in the area for an extended period of time, thus giving Mother Nature a helping hand in maintaining the minimum water levels.</div>

<br />
On this part of the hike I decided to explore a bit of the ridge. Photo's 2 and 3 were taken from a rocky outcrop that gave me the willies while I was hiking up (diagonally) and while I was hiking down (also diagonally, which was very dangerous). In the remaining pics, you can see worn out paths that although were great for walking on, did provide a few places along the way for me to sit and proverbially smell the flowers, or in the case, the trees and the birds. You can also that autumn is indeed taking place on Cedar Mountain.<br />
<br />
And while the grade was roughly 7% or more in some places, the downward trek on those paths made it feel like I was walking down a slightly steep hill. So overall to this point, the hike was going very well.G. B. I thought now would be a good time as any to resurrect this blog and share one of my favorite places to get lost within myself. So without further ado, here is Cedar Mountain.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
These pics were taken within the first fifteen minutes of my hike. The first one shows the entrance to Cedar Mountain, which located directly across from the end of my street. The remaining six were taken at various points while I was hiking up the initial 8-9% incline (it eventually grew to about a 11% or so incline the further up I went), either facing towards the street or off to my right as I faced the mountain. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Even though the temps were in the hi 60's/lo 70's outside, once I got about ten feet inside the mountain the temp dropped roughly five degrees. The higher I went the chillier it got as even though the sun poked its head through (as you can see in some of those pics), the ratio of shade to sun was about 4 to 1 in favor of the shade.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As you can see, autumn hasn't quite taken hold in the mountain yet, but in the coming weeks, maybe it has.</div>

<br />
Background: I was outside desperately trying to get some writing done, when I decided to take break by shooting a few (well, about two dozen) pictures. The first 17 you saw in two previous posts, and the remaining six are here (one was a no-go).<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-qDBTgZJOm54/Ud9SN8TeYdI/AAAAAAAACeE/PxY6D-0YUjs/s1600/Alive+Is+The+Neighborhood+017.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-qDBTgZJOm54/Ud9SN8TeYdI/AAAAAAAACeE/PxY6D-0YUjs/s320/Alive+Is+The+Neighborhood+017.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Pic #1 features, as you can plainly see, flags waving in the breeze. We have about a half dozen flags lining this side of the driveway and not only are they purty, but they double as line guide for my brother in law (his now temporarily deceased car is what you see in the pic).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YsrtnFja4LQ/Ud9SQSJvcLI/AAAAAAAACeM/D9TpjZa11zM/s1600/Alive+Is+The+Neighborhood+019.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YsrtnFja4LQ/Ud9SQSJvcLI/AAAAAAAACeM/D9TpjZa11zM/s320/Alive+Is+The+Neighborhood+019.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The reason why I was able to get this and the other bird shots was that I had chair parked directly under the tree in the front yard, thus making it super simple for me to get this nifty shot. Sorry, don't know what kind of bird this is.<br />

One of my better self-portraits. Yes, I really do look this on the weekend, and as you can see, I have the funkiest salt-and-pepper mustache east of the Mississippi. And yes, I started growing it even longer as I'm trying to get it to hand down freestyle off my face.<br />

But twice. In case you're wondering about the tree, it is still trucking along, and if you have the ability, please give some serious thought about wandering over to my adult blog to read a nifty (and super clean G-rated) story entitled simply "<a href="http://gbmjr4flashy.blogspot.com/2013/07/the-tree.html" target="_blank">The Tree</a>".G. <br />
Time to blow off the dust bunnies and show another part of my neighborhood for all you good peeps to peruse and abuse. The majority of the pics that you will see in the coming weeks were taken while I was doing my Saturday morning errands and/or Sunday afternoon walks.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Today's post will feature trees. These particular trees were shot while doing my Saturday morning errands. Pics 1 thru 4 were taken in my neighborhood and the main drag for my neighborhod; pics 5 & 6 were taken in the center, while the remaining two were taken on the way home.</div>

<br />
Since the weather has gotten a bit warmer (thankfully) as of late, I was inspired to whip my handy dandy cheapo digital/video camera the other day. I took almost one dozen shots and I thought I would dust off this blog and share them with you. <br />
<br />
All of the shots were taken either at my house or on the street next to Cedar Mountain (hence the tag, The Neighborhood) and all of them will be sans captions, since I would rather let you discover what the topic of choice is for each shot. There is no wrong interpertation here, so whatever you can come up with is perfectly acceptable.<br />
<br />
I hope you enjoy this little slice of spring fever at the mountain.<br />

<br />
For ha-ha's, I thought I would do an experiment by shooting before and after video's of my front yard and neighborhood. The video's that you're about to see should give you a sample on how badly Connecticut got bitch slapped from Storm Nemo. The first one was shot about 9a Friday morning, with the second being shot some 24 hours later on Saturday.<br />
<br />
To put the second video in perspective, our esteemed Guv'nor closed the state to traveling around midnight on Friday, state DOT plows were actually pulled because they couldn't keep up with the snow, and late Saturday morning, a town plow that had chains on almost got stuck while plowing our street.<br />

I'm not sure when the next series of pics or video will be posted here, if only for the main reason of not having anything on tap or stashed away on the trusty ol' flashy drive.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
So without further ado, here is the fourth and final part of "Autumn Near Cedar Mountain".</div>
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7RFqXKqlxq4/UKhUfh6lS0I/AAAAAAAACLs/ciyy8YYIitc/s1600/Autumn2012+017.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="300" rea="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7RFqXKqlxq4/UKhUfh6lS0I/AAAAAAAACLs/ciyy8YYIitc/s400/Autumn2012+017.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Trees! Lots of trees! Seriously though, these trees were seriously compromised last winter by Storm Alfred and this fall by Tropical Storm/Hurricane (depending on where you was) Sandy. But, we can definitely trip down memory lane by looking at this pic with awe about the ability of Mother and Father Nature to do good.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jhJ8A8NEohk/UKhUiXm-IrI/AAAAAAAACL0/zYtXPzqRGYE/s1600/Autumn2012+018.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="300" rea="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jhJ8A8NEohk/UKhUiXm-IrI/AAAAAAAACL0/zYtXPzqRGYE/s400/Autumn2012+018.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I was sitting on what passes for a bridge on this road. Seriously. We have two (count 'em) bridges on this street. I suppose back in the day, oh when gas was 55 cents a gallon, these bridges were useful in bridging the now tiny/infinitesimal streams that flowed down the mountain. Anyways, I decided to take a long exposure of the trees near the bridge, and as you can see, I got a backyard or two in the shot as well.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">This is Sienna. Sienna belongs to John, the family friend/serious computer geek who lives in the suburban section of Hartford and comes up here daily to walk her around the mountain all year round. John is also heavily into the concept of "open space" in Newington and is a member of the organization called <a href="http://www.savecedarmountain.com/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Save Cedar Mountain</a>, which is devoted to the preservation of Cedar Mountain from developers. </tbody></table>
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hKN3EhtBgOY/UKhUoUt45tI/AAAAAAAACME/wYI-MzT37WI/s1600/Autumn2012+020.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="300" rea="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hKN3EhtBgOY/UKhUoUt45tI/AAAAAAAACME/wYI-MzT37WI/s400/Autumn2012+020.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Halloweenie!!! This display was created by the residents of one of the oldest group homes that I know here in Newington. I say oldest as this sucker was around when I was my younger nephew's age some 43 years ago. Anyways, every year they put up some kind of display for a holiday, and this year, they chose to do Halloween.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-80Ct6w3-QIE/UKhUrmWn-TI/AAAAAAAACMM/DRG5yjLSGFA/s1600/Autumn2012+021.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="300" rea="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-80Ct6w3-QIE/UKhUrmWn-TI/AAAAAAAACMM/DRG5yjLSGFA/s400/Autumn2012+021.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">And finally, we end our journey at the same place where we started it: home. In this case, the front sidewalk gave us the best viewpoint in which to shoot this lovely picture. As Fred Rogers would often say:<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I decided to point the camera upwards as it seemed like I was walking through a small canopy-style tunnel that day. It's pretty freaky, albeit in a good way, how the sun is poking it's head through the trees.<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">This was another one of those long-tern exposure photographs, as you can tell by the blurriness on the top. <tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I walked about one hundred feet into the mountain to take this shot. The reason why it seems blurry is not because my hand was moving, but I was experimenting with one of the settings that made the picture just a tad larger than normal and took just a tad longer to actually take. Sort of like an old-fashion exposure in which the subject had to stay perfectly still for a couple of minutes before the picture was completed.</td></tr>

I'm on my way I'm making it...Big Time!<br />
<br />
Not yet, but I will be.<br />
<br />
In the meantime, please enjoy this slightly longish video of my backyard. While it may not be Big Time, it's big enough for me, for look at all the happy creatures dancing on the lawn. Well, not really, but ya know, it's the imagination that counts.<br />

My friends, this book trailer will knock your socks off, or at the very least, make you sit up and take notice.<br />
<br />
This trailer was created, as well as the book cover, by the talented <a href="http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_0_8?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=kelly+abell&sprefix=kelly+ab%2Caps%2C288" target="_blank">Kelly Abell</a> and her graphics company <i><a href="http://www.selectografix.com/Home.php" target="_blank"><span style="color: purple;">Select-O-Grafix</span></a></i>. Seriously, if you need any kind of marketing product created, be it cover or a book trailer like what you see, by all means please check them out. In addition to being a talented graphics artist, she is also a multi-published author.<br />
<br />
Feel free to leave a comment here, or at the video itself, as it is searchable on YouTube.<br />
<br />
Once again, major props to Kelly Abell for all of her fantastic work on my book cover and on my book trailer too.G. B. Sometime, during either the spring or early summer, I shot up my last disposable camera. For the next ten months or so, it sat next to my computer, silently imploring me to get it developed. Finally, at the tail end of April of this year, I did just that. My friends, please enjoy this quiet pictorial interlude sans captions, as I believe that the pictures in this series speak for themselves. Also, please keep in mind that the bulk of the pictures shot were of our feathered friends, because even though there are other subjects, they were shot more as interesting interludes than anything else.<br />

Unfortunately, as of today (5/6), it has not arrived back at Rite Aid.<br />
<br />
So in place of that, I thought I would plaster over here, the cover of my forthcoming novel (shooting for a late summer/early fall release date) from <a href="http://www.solsticepublishing.com/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Solstice Publishing</a> entitled <i>Line 21</i>. Granted, it is a redundant post, as it was Thursday's post (5/3) on <a href="http://cedarmountainnewengland.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Cedar's Mountain</a>, and Saturday's post (5/5) on <a href="http://booksbygbmjrofct.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Books by G. B. Miller</a>.<br />
<br />
But I really wanted to update this blog, and since this is a photo blog about Cedar Mountain, Newington, Connecticut, as well as Cedar's Mountain, I figured this particular picture would fit in perfectly.<br />
<br />
My friends, once again, here is the cover that will surely get me into some kind of trouble at work in the coming days and weeks, especially since I'd put in a new order of glossy business cards that features this cover on the front and back side.<br />
<br />

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
As a bonus, here is the brief synopsis that was used in the query letter.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 12pt;"></span><br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 12pt;">Playing the game of public sex is hard enough when you got the family loan shark bothering you for a piece of your action, but when your symbiont wants a piece as well, it can make you question your own sanity.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 12pt;">Flat broke with no job, Jeannie was terrified of becoming just like one of her uncle’s deadbeat customers. Even though she was able to smooth talk her way into a five day extension of her loan, she was still stuck in the same dead end with the same problem: no money. Still, God must’ve had an ulterior motive, because no sooner than she had closed her phone, a young man sat down next to her and began talking. A few minutes later, Jeannie was holding a business card that could just be her potential salvation from a world of hurt. After a brief, yet highly insulting conversation with her symbiont Aissa, Jeannie was determined to test her mettle as an adult performer. Not because she needed the money, but more to the point of proving her symbiont wrong as well as proving to herself that she could play the game of public sex and still have her morals intact.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 12pt;">Line 21</span></i><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 12pt;"> is not just a story about a young woman’s dilemma in reconciling her values to a new and exciting career, but it’s also a story about living with a free spirit that’s crying out for adventure.</span></div>

<br />
Well, it's been a very long time, but because I got motivated by the great Spring weather this weekend to shoot a cheesy video, I decided to share that same cheesy video with everyone today.<br />
<br />
I'm shooting for a goal of being less sporadic with my photos/videos this year, and what better way to kick off the year than with a cheesy video shot by yours truly.<br />

For your viewing pleasure, a dopey video featuring yours truly, taken at my brother's house in Thomaston, CT on Thanksgiving day.<br />
